In this speech Huxley says that the Ultimate Revolution will come about by using mind-altering drugs or other methods of effecting the human brain in order to get people to "love their servitude." It is disturbing to say the least.
Many people paint a misleading portrait of Huxley. He is commonly seen as a harsh critic of technology. His "Brave New World" is espoused to be a sincere warning from a caring and worried intellectual. Listening to this speech had ought to make anyone question this common biography. He goes on and on about how people can be made to love a miserable state of affairs, and mentions that there has always been and will always be a controlling oligarchy. His descriptions of brain experiments done on lab rats and prisoners are delivered with an undeniable sense of glee.
Of course one could brush this off and go back to believing the official version of Aldous Huxley's distinguished credentials. A lifetime of repeating rhetoric is hard to break out of. But please, listen to this lecture and try to let Huxley's words speak for themselves.
Here is the youtube abridged version (but the full version is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED listen)
