"Structural unemployment" will occur as AI and robotics begin taking over the mundane jobs that human "wage slaves" (Hughes uses this exact terminology) perform today. Government could step in and solve this problem by providing everyone with a basic "universal income." If this does occur, then people will also have to deal with transhuman enhancement technologies. These technologies will present the possibility for new forms of addiction. "Dystopian super-heroine" could make people slaves.
